Hunting eBikes – A Brief Introduction
Image: ©fissioncycles
To begin with, let’s quickly talk about what an electric hunting bike is and why you might want one.
They are different from other bikes, like an unpowered bike or a city bike, or even electric mountain bikes. Unlike regular ebikes an electric hunting bike is specifically designed and built to be used as a hunting tool.
Hunting eBikes have strong motors and batteries, a resilient and durable frame, powerful suspensions, and impressive brakes, and usually come with fat tires to give you extra traction on tough and rough terrain.
In other words, they’re the best electric bikes to maximize your hunting success.
What Is The Best Hunting eBike Under $2000?

Many of the best electric bikes for hunting come with a price tag of $5000 – $8000. That’s often due to the very powerful and expensive motors they’re using.
However, with a lot of experience in this industry and with a little bit of digging there are still some great quality hunting ebikes to be found that sell for $2000 or even less.
What’s important is that these electric bikes are strong and reliable workhorses that turn out to be reliable hunting buddies that can get you safely to and from your hunting spots.
In this article, I share with you my personal reviews and selection of the best hunting eBike under $2000.
Can You Finance Your Hunting eBike Under $2000?
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
Even though finding hunting ebikes under $2000 is already a fantastic bargain, not everybody has this amount of money just lying around.
Luckily, that’s not necessary to become the proud owner of a great hunting ebike.
With the advancement of electric bikes into the mainstream and the increase in popularity of hunting electric bikes in particular more and more (online) retailers have partnered up with financial institutions to offer new customers easy-to-handle installment plans.
If you’d like to learn more about how to finance your electric bike for hunting I have provided additional information at the end of this article in the “Frequently Asked Questions” section.
What You Need To Know Before Buying The Best Hunting eBike Under $2000
Image: ©Bakcou
Contrary to what some people believe a hunting eBike is not just a regular electric bike painted in “camo” paint. There’s actually much more to it than first meets the eye.
Electric hunting bikes are specifically designed and built with the toughest hunting requirements in mind.
This includes the ability to handle very rough and challenging off-road terrain with ease while also carrying a tremendous amount of weight without any difficulties.
How Is A Hunting eBike Different From A Regular eBike?
Image: ©Electric-Hunting-Bike
There’s a huge number of things that are different from a regular electric bike and often the differences are in the details that can have a big impact in your day-to-day practical use.
Overall, it’s not necessarily one main part that makes the difference. Rather, it’s the unique combination of different components all in one electric bike that makes a hunting ebike the tremendous workhorse and reliable hunting partner that it is. This includes:
- Stronger motor (usually among the most powerful of all the best electric bikes)
- Ride with pedal assistance or throttle only
- Lightweight but very strong frame (usually aluminum)
- Powerful mechanical disc brakes or hydraulic disc brakes
- Fat tires
- Front suspension
- Weight load: Carry up to 300 lbs of weight
- 3 wheels instead of 2 (sometimes)
- All wheel drive is available (sometimes)
- Walk-assist mode (sometimes)
- Build specifically for hunting, handling off-road terrain, carrying a lot of loads, fat tires, camo paint, etc.
What Are The Advantages Of A Hunting eBike?
Image: ©Bakcou
Let’s look at some of the advantages of using a hunting eBike compared to other modes of hunting mobility.
A Hunting Ebike Increases Your Chances Of A Successful Hunt
Image: ©TechTrends
- With an electric hunting bike, you can travel faster than on foot so you can spend more time hunting. A hunting e-bike also lets you explore a greater area to find that perfect hunting opportunity.
- With an electric bike, you produce less of a scent trail than walking on foot since you’re sweating less and you have less contact with the ground. In other words, e bikes help you to stay undetected for longer and get much closer to your prey than ever before.
- With a hunting ebike you can also check your trail cameras in a fraction of the time it’d take you on foot.
- You travel almost silently and without producing fumes so compared to hunting with an ATV or UTV you’re chances of not spooking the animals are significantly increased.
- With an electric hunting bike you can access more remote backcountry that would have been too far to get to by foot or that’s not accessible by ATV or UTV.
An Electric Hunting Bike Takes the Strain Out Of The Hunting Experience
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
- You have the choice between walking on foot for many hours vs getting there quickly and effortlessly with an electric bike.
- Carrying a lot of hunting gear on foot or riding a human-powered bicycle can be very difficult, especially on muddy or slippery terrain. Instead, you can move your gear quickly and effortlessly with an electric hunting bike.
- With a hunting eBike, you can also recover your hunt in one single trip rather than spending a tremendous amount of time and energy recovering it piece by piece.
An Electric Bike For Hunting Makes The Hunt Safer
In the unfortunate event of an injury or other emergency, an electric hunting bike can still get you back home.
A Hunting Ebike Lets You Hunt For Longer
With a hunting e-bike hunters can continue enjoying the hunting lifestyle they otherwise couldn’t due to age or health and mobility issues.
An Electric Bike Provides Added Peace Of Mind
Image: ©Bakcou
When you use an electric bike for hunting your loved ones feel reassured that you will get home safely, giving them that extra peace of mind they crave.
An Electric Hunting Bike Saves You Money
Even the best electric bikes for hunting are cheaper than ATVs or UTVs.
They’re also much easier to transport and don’t require additional investments such as a trailer or an extra garage.
What To Consider When Buying An Electric Hunting Bike
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
Not all electric bikes for hunting are equal. They differ greatly in their ability to handle difficult terrain, especially inclines and declines. They also differ widely in their range and speed but not so much in their load capacity.
You should consider how you intend to use your new hunting eBike.
- Do you only get from the drop-off point to and from your deer blind?
- Do you move around a lot scouting for game or following a herd?
- Do you need to check your trail cameras regularly?
This will determine which features are most important for you.
What To Look For When Buying An Electric Hunting Bike
Image: ©Outdoor Zone
The motor is the most important factor you should consider when buying a hunting eBike. It determines the strength of your eBike and how well it can go up and down steep terrain.
The motor is also the most costly part of your eBike and a more valuable engine translates into a higher purchase price.
Most important here is the placement of the motor. There are basically 3 different types of motors you can choose from:
- a hub motor (usually a rear hub motor),
- a mid drive motor and
- an ultra-mid-drive motor.
Some manufacturers also offer an all-wheel drive system but that only applies to a small number of electric hunting bikes.
A rear hub motor drives the ebike by turning the back wheel, effectively pushing the bike forward from “behind”.
Mid drive motors are located more or less in the middle of the bike close to where the pedals are. The mid drive motor works with sensors that detect how strongly the rider is pedaling and then match the power output accordingly.
The Ultra Mid Drive motor is probably the most advanced (and therefore also most expensive) type of motor. It has even more sensors than the mid drive motor allowing for an even more natural feeling riding experience.
A powerful high-torque motor also requires capable brakes. Usually, you can choose between fat bikes with hydraulic or mechanical brakes.
Most electric bikes also offer a removable battery, and a pedal assist function and the best electric bikes even feature good front suspension for a smooth ride. Front and rear lights or front and rear fenders are also often optional.
Pay attention to the battery capacity so you can achieve a decent range with your particular riding style.
Legal Aspects To Consider When Buying An Electric Hunting Bike
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
Ebike regulation is kind of a complex issue. Every state has the authority to come up with its own rules and many did.
However, many public lands are governed by local authorities or the national forest department of the public land bureau. Each of these organizations also has come up with its own rules.
Finally, often local governments have been empowered to override state laws for their specific areas or specific parts of the land. As a result, it’s almost impossible to give a general rule other than when in doubt check with your local authority.
Legality is an important aspect and one you always need to clarify before buying your hunting ebike.
How We Made Our Selection Of The Best Hunting eBike Under $2000
Image: ©Outdoor Zone
While I’ve been a bike enthusiast and cyclist for my entire life and while we do have a few electric bikes in our family I can’t claim that I have personally tested every single ebike out there (and I think probably no one can make such a claim).
So, to a certain degree, I had to rely on feedback from other hunters who had actual personal experience using a specific hunting ebike in the field.
I also got direct feedback from hunters who shared their experiences with electric hunting bikes on popular forums, sites like Reddit, Facebook groups, and other places where hunters hang out.
In addition, I studied real-world reviews published on YouTube and other websites and read manufacturers’ websites and their claims as well as online retailer websites and their claims, too.
It’s one thing to have personal experience using a specific hunting ebike and just tell you which parts I liked and which parts I didn’t like.
But it’s another and completely different thing to be able to objectively assess and compare different hunting electric bikes from different manufacturers providing an unbiased opinion about their quality and performance.
So, a large part of my work involved getting quite knowledgeable about the technical specifications of the motor and the battery and how they influence the performance of a hunting ebike in a particular way.
Finally, I want to emphasize that my research and this review are not focused on finding cheap electric bikes but rather THE best electric bikes for your budget. I am looking for great value for money. I’m looking for the best hunting ebike under $2000 that’s built with quality and endurance in mind and that delivers real value to the hunter.
Best Hunting eBike Under $2000 – My Selection
Now that you know what to look out for and what questions to ask, let’s dive into our selection of the best hunting ebike under $2000.
RadRover 6 Plus
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
The RadRover 6 Plus electric hunting bike is a true multi-terrain ebike.
It’s a very versatile allrounder that’s great for hunting, fishing, camping, and off-road riding in general. But it’s also great for commuters, night cruisers, and recreational riders.
It can carry up to 275 lbs of weight and comes as a high-step or step-through model.
This all-weather ebike comes as a step over and a step through model. RAD Power Bikes recommends the step over model for riders with a height of 5’4” – 6’2″. The step through model is recommended for riders with a height of 5’2” – 6’2″.
The Motor
It features a strong 750 W rear hub motor that feels stronger than the RadRover 5 Plus.
If you’ve been on the RadRover 5 Plus you might notice how the RadRover 6 Plus lines up nicely with your pedal stroke.
There seems to be no delay between pedaling and the motor kicking in as can be the case in some other electric bikes with rear hub motors. As a result, the RadRover 6 Plus provides a more natural feeling riding experience when the pedal-assist mode is activated.
For a more in-depth review please read my RadRover 6 Plus review.
Hill Climbing Capabilities
When tested on a 15-degree incline the RadRover Plus 6 performed well and showed itself to be an excellent hill climber.
This is partly due to the 7 gears system hooked up to the 42-tooth chainring.
Combined with the 750 W motor you can maintain good speed when riding on even surfaces as well as when riding up hills.
Throttle
The powerful motor is controlled via a grip twist throttle on the handlebar. It’s easy to handle and allows for great fine-tuning of the power received from the motor.
Gearing
The 7-speed Shimano drivetrain works very well and allows for good cadence. Shifting with the 7-speed Shimano Acera is crisp and smooth which helps avoid putting too much stress on the motor.
The gearing is controlled via a very nice 7-speed thumb shifter.
Battery
The RadRover 6 Plus comes with a 48 V 14 Ah battery. This gives you a total of 672 Wh. Assuming that one mile consumes 20 Wh of energy you have a calculated maximum range on a single battery charge of 33.6 miles.
Of course, as I always mention, your actual mileage depends on many different factors and will probably be different.
ElectricBikeReport has tested the range in their electric bike review with the following results:
- With the highest level of pedal assist: 28.47 miles and an average speed 18.3 mph
- With the lowest level of pedal assist: 50.49 miles and an average speed 10.7 mph
They conclude that you should be able to get at least 25 miles and more out of a single battery charge, which is pretty awesome.
What’s new on the RadRover 6 Plus is also the semi integration of the battery into the frame. The more compact sleek battery pack can now easily be clipped into the bike frame. This semi-integration of the battery into the frame certainly looks very cool.
Pedal Assist Modes (1-5)
The RadRover 6 Plus electric hunting bike comes with 5 different pedal-assist modes for you to choose from depending on how much work you want to do yourself and how much support you want from this hunting ebike.
Overall, the different modes seem well-calibrated and all riding modes feel safe.
Brakes
I really like the brakes on the RadRover 6 Plus. They bite really hard.
This hunting ebike can go fast and it’s also slightly heavier so I think having hydraulic brakes on such a powerful e bike makes perfect sense.
Please note that due to supply chain issues the regular nut hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors at the front and rear might not be available when you order your new RadRover 6 Plus. However, RadRover assures customers that they will only use brakes of at least the same quality and performance.
Suspension
To make riding across rough terrain more comfortable the RadRover 6 Plus comes with a capable front suspension fork.
This new suspension fork has 60 mm travel which is less travel than the previous model (80 mm). However, somehow this seems to work better and give a better riding experience.
Tires
Like most other electric hunting bikes on this list, the RadRover 6 Plus comes with fat tires that add more stability to this e bike.
The RadRover 6 Plus will move you safely to and from your tree stand in any weather conditions. The durable 26” x 4″ fat tires are puncture-resistant and provide for great traction across challenging terrain.
Fat tires also allow for a wide array of air pressures to accommodate different terrain and riding conditions. You might want to have them harder for on-road riding and slightly softer for off-road riding or a “cushier” feeling.
Cockpit
I love the cockpit of the RadRover 6 Plus. I especially like the dual display which is mounted to the handlebar. It allows you to see more info at once which I find is very useful.
However, the smaller display could be a little bit lighter or brighter to make it more readable in sunny conditions.
Handlebar
The handlebar is nice and wide (700 mm) and reminds me a bit of a mountain bike. It definitely helps a lot with feeling balanced and stable.
It has a 4-inch rise/sweep which helps to keep the hunter in an upright riding position and looking forward. I found this really helps to keep the neck and lower back in a better position, too.
Legal
The RadRover 6 Plus comes as a Class 2 ebike
What I Don’t Like
I think the RadRover 6 Plus is an awesome machine that offers fantastic value for money.
If I had to make any suggestions it would be to make the second LCD display on the handlebar brighter so it’s easier to read on a sunny day.
I personally also don’t like grip twist throttles and I would change it to a thumb throttle. That’s just my personal preference because when you are walking with the e bike next to you it’s quite easy to accidentally twist the grip and have the motor kick in.
However, not everybody has that problem and apart from these 2 issues, I think the RadRover Plus is an amazing deal.
Verdict
If you’re looking for a versatile and reliable electric hunting bike backed by a reputable American company with strong customer service the RadRover 6 Plus might be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for your needs.
Himiway Zebra
Image: ©himiwaybike
The Himiway Zebra electric hunting bike is the updated version of the Himiway Cruiser.
It comes in 2 styles as a regular step-over or, if you don’t want or cannot lift your legs that high as a step through electric bike, making the getting on and getting off process much easier.
Himiway recommends the Zebra for riders with a height between 5’2 ~ 6’2 or 5’1 ~ 6’2 respectively.
The Himiway Zebra has a powerful 750 W geared rear hub motor. It’s an awesome ebike that will get you to your destination across flat and moderately challenging terrain with no problems.
What makes this electric hunting bike very special is its overall load capacity. The Himiway Zebra lets you carry an incredible 400 lbs which is more than many of its top-priced competitors. It’s also more than enough to carry a hunter, the gear, and the hunt in any situation I can think of.
Compared to the Cruiser, Himiway has added an extremely strong and solid rear rack to the bike, perfect for carrying bulkier items. It’s the perfect bike if you need to carry heavy loads that other electric hunting bikes cannot handle.
This electric hunting bike is aptly named “Zebra” because in the wild the zebra has even more stamina than the cheetah, the world’s fastest animal. That’s reflected in an amazing maximum range of 80 miles on a single battery charge with pedal assistance or 60 miles when riding only using the electric motor.
Keeping in mind that range as claimed by the manufacturer is often only achievable in “ideal” condition, the Himiway Zebra is a great electric hunting bike if you want to scout larger areas of wilderness and backcountry.
However, as you know, how much range you will get out of this battery depends on many different factors such as the overall weight you’re carrying or hauling including your body weight, the type of terrain you are riding on, the wind condition, your average riding speed, etc.
The battery has 48 V and 20 Ah which equals an impressive 960 Wh which makes a range of 30-50 miles on a single charge a realistic expectation.
The Zebra comes with all the necessary equipment, such as great hydraulic brakes, a strong aluminum frame with a total weight of only 79 lbs, a comfortable saddle, and good suspension. Everything you need to handle difficult and rough terrain head on and all part of the reason why we consider the Himiway Zebra one of the best electric bike for hunting under $2000.
The battery is securely locked to prevent theft but it can easily be removed when unlocked.
It has 26’’ fat tires for great traction when off road riding and a 7-speed Shimano gearing system to give you greater control over the power you need in any given situation.
What’s really great is that Himiway has upgraded the braking system with hydraulic disc brakes, giving the hunter more confidence when tackling steep descents.
The pedals have small spikes to avoid slipping.
Himiway has also added an additional headlight at the front and every time you use the brakes the red light at the rear gets activated.
The Himiway Zebra comes with a 2-year warranty and a 15-day money-back guarantee (at the time of writing this review).
Verdict
If you are looking for an electric hunting bike that can carry up to 400 lbs of weight while also giving you an amazing range the Himiway Zebra might be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
Quietkat Pioneer
Image: ©QuietKat
QuietKat is one of the leading manufacturers of Premium electric hunting bikes.
While most of their hunting ebikes demand a much higher price tag due to their outstanding quality and specifications, the QuietKat Pioneer falls within the $2000 budget range.
It’s a great entry-level e-bike for passionate hunters who are serious about improving their hunting game.
The QuietKat Pioneer comes with a 500 W motor which is smaller than most other electric hunting bikes but it also comes with the high built quality customers all over the world have come to love and expect from any QuietKat electric hunting bike.
If you’re able and willing to pay slightly more you can get the QuietKat Pioneer also with a 750 W motor. However, for this review, I’ll focus on the 500 W motor.
The QuietKat Pioneer is definitely an all-rounder that performs well on your daily commute as well as your off road excursions. It can easily handle moderately difficult terrain and hills as long as they’re not too steep.
The 48 V battery has 9.6 Ah which translates into almost 461 Wh, enough for a range of approximately 12 – 20 miles realistically, depending on the weight you carry, the terrain, the wind conditions, and a whole lot of other factors.
The QuietKat Pioneer provides exceptional value for money but the savings have to come from somewhere, right?
The QuietKat Pioneer comes in 1 size only (18’’) and features a single-speed drive, i.e. it has one mechanical gear that doesn’t shift. Like most things in life, that has advantages and disadvantages.
A single-drive ebike requires less maintenance because there are fewer parts (no derailleur, no hub gearing, etc) that can break or go wrong. Because of that, it’s also lighter than geared electric hunting bikes, making transportation easier to handle.
With a single-drive hunting ebike, the riding speed is set by how quickly or slowly you pedal.
For a budget of $2000 you’ll get an amazing entry-level all-terrain electric hunting bike that will definitely put a smile on your face.
Verdict
If you are looking for an entry-level electric hunting bike that’s easy to transport and that can get you to and from your hunting grounds without any complications the QuietKat Pioneer might be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
RadRunner Plus
Image: ©Nick Linnen
The RadRunner Plus is another great electric hunting bike by RAD Power Bikes that made it onto this list of the best hunting ebike under $2000.
It started out as a hybrid electric utility bike but thanks to its very functional design and high built quality it has proven itself to be a great hunting companion as well.
Keep on reading to find out why. For a more comprehensive review please read my RadRunner Plus review.
I like the fact that the RadRunner Plus is an extremely versatile bike that you can use for your hunting adventures but also for your camping trips, fishing trips, mountain trails, or even your daily commute.
It features a great retro moped-style frame and vintage look that’s sure to turn some heads.
But don’t be fooled by its sleek appearance. The RadRunner Plus is definitely a workhorse to reckon with.
Powered by a 750 W geared hub motor that’s actually engineered by RAD itself the RadRunner Plus is quite an impressive hill climber.
With 80 Nm of torque, a 7-speed drivetrain, and a load capacity of 300 lbs this nimble electric hunting bike can definitely deliver you and all your hunting gear safely and effortlessly to your preferred hunting destination.
This is even more impressive considering that most of the premium electric hunting bikes on the market cannot carry more than 300 lbs either.
Riding the RadRunner Plus across some rough terrain is also no problem thanks to a durable front-suspension fork that absorbs much of the vibration.
You can also customize the RadRunner Plus with a whole range of accessories including different racks, baskets, pannier bags, and a very useful center console to make it the best electric hunting bike for your needs.
The battery of the RadRunner Plus provides 672 Wh which is enough for a range of approximately 33.6 miles (if 1 mile consumes 20 Wh).
The motor is controlled with a half twist throttle and a backlit LCD display lets you monitor the bike’s performance with a
- charge indicator,
- speedometer,
- odometer,
- trip odometer,
- pedal assist level indicator,
- wattmeter,
- and more.
Verdict
If you’re looking for an electric hunting bike that offers exceptional value for money and outstanding customer service provided by a reputable and well-established American company then the RadRunner Plus could be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
Emojo Lynx Pro 750
Image: ©emojobike
The Emojo Lynx Pro 750 is not your usual electric hunting bike. As a matter of fact, it’s not really a hunting ebike at all. However, due to its outstanding performance features (it ticks all the boxes) I have included it on this list.
The Emojo Lynx Pro 750 is a foldable electric hunting bike which makes transporting it in your car an absolute breeze. Unfolded it measures 67 L x 24 W x 45 H. Folded up it only measures 39 L x 18 W x 26 H.
This ebike is an outstanding allrounder. It’s perfect for your daily commute, to run errands, or go off-roading.
It has an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. A beginner-friendly 750 W rear hub motor powers a sturdy aluminum frame bike that only weighs 55 lbs including the battery. It’s thrilling to experience the raw power when riding it.
It has a sturdy rear rack and can carry a total load of up to 230 lbs.
With a 48 V/10.4 Ah e bike battery this electric hunting bike has 499.2 Wh which translates into a maximum range of approx 20 – 30 miles (with a rider of average weight across not-too-challenging terrain).
The Emojo Lynx Pro 750 has a top speed of 20 mph and can be easily brought to a standstill using the dual Tektro mechanical disc brakes in the front and rear.
One drawback of the Emojo Lynx Pro 750 is the lack of any suspension. However, it’s fitted with fat tires (4.0 R 20 Kenda) that are low pressure (30 psi) that help absorb a lot of that bounce when riding off-road.
It also has a 7-speed Shimano Altus gearing system which gives you more control to tackle many different terrains.
It has pedal assistance as well as a throttle mode allowing you to comfortably ride on paved roads or off road paths.
Verdict
For a very reasonable price tag the Emojo Lynx Pro 750 delivers outstanding performance and if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly ebike that can take you off road as well as to work the Emojo Lynx Pro 750 might be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
Emojo Wildcat Pro
Image: ©emojobike
The Emojo Wildcat Pro is a solid fat tire bike that was originally built more like a mountain bike.
With a reliable Bafang motor of either 500 W or 750 W and like some of the best electric mountain bikes it can handle moderate hills and performs well on loose ground and sand.
The solid aluminum frame has an impressive 330 lbs load capacity which makes it a great option for your hunting trips.
You can use the Emojo Wildcat Pro also as a commuter bike since even with the 750 W motor it is still regarded as a class 2 ebike which means in many jurisdictions it doesn’t require licensing or registration.
The 48 V / 10.4 Ah battery produces 499.2 Watt hours which is enough to cover 20 – 30 miles on a single battery charge.
The 750 W model is equipped with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes that allow you to tackle ascents and descents alike. The 500 W model comes with Tektro front and rear mechanical disc brakes that can be upgraded to hydraulic disc brakes if you want to.
The Emojo Wildcat Pro doesn’t come with front-end suspensions but those can be fitted at a later stage.
The main drawback for me is that the Emojo Wildcat Pro doesn’t come with the rear rack pre-installed. You need to buy one separately for approximately 60 bucks and then install it yourself or have someone do it for you. It’s not a major effort but it would have been nice to have it pre-installed in my opinion.
Verdict
If you are looking for an awesome electric hunting bike that you can also use for your daily commute or just to go on a family outing the Emojo Wildcat Pro could be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
The Rooster 750 20 Rambo Bike
Image: ©rambobikes
The Rooster 750 20 Rambo is an amazing electric hunting bike. It’s built with quality components and it would have achieved a higher ranking if it wasn’t for a couple of, what I’d call, drawbacks. Keep on reading to learn what I mean by that.
The Rooster features a 750 W Bafang rear hub motor with an impressive 80 Nm of torque.
The 48 V battery has 14 Ah which translates into 672 Wh, enough for a range of approx. 30 – 35 miles without pedaling on even ground.
The Rooster weighs 61 lbs and has a load capacity of 300 lbs which makes it easier to carry all your hunting gear.
The first “drawback” of the Rooster 750 20 is the fact that it comes in only a single size with a 17″ medium-sized frame and a stand-over height of 16.5″. This makes it a great electric hunting bike for shorter riders but not for taller ones especially since the handlebar can not be height adjusted.
The Rooster is a step through electric bike which accommodates hunters with less flexibility or other mobility issues.
The second drawback of the Rooster 750 20 is the absence of any gearing. This makes it more suitable for easier terrains without hills.
The Rooster is a great all-rounder ebike for hunting but also for camping, a ride to the beach, or through town.
Since the Rooster is equipped with a rigid fork you’ll have to rely on the Kenda Krusade 20” x 4.0” fat tires to cushion your ride.
Who Should Buy The Rooster 750 20 By Rambo Bikes?
The Rooster 750 20 by Rambo Bikes is a perfect electric hunting bike for a beginner rider who is shorter and wants an ebike that can be used in many different situations.
The lack of gears is actually a benefit for a beginner rider since there’s less to learn and to take care of. There’s also less that can break and so the Rooster 750 20 is more forgiving which is great news for an ebike rider that’s still in the e-learning process.
Verdict
If you are looking for an electric hunting bike for shorter riders with less experience that need a simple yet reliable hunting companion the Rooster 750 20 by Rambo Bikes could be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for your needs.
RadExpand 5
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
The RadExpand 5 by RAD Power Bikes is another electric folding bike that made it onto this list of best hunting ebike under $2000. Keep on reading to discover why. For a more exhaustive look please read my RadExpand 5 review.
The RadExpand 5 is designed for easy transportation and storage in smaller spaces such as an RV or an SUV, for example. However, despite its compact design it’s a true workhorse that’s ready for your next hunting adventure.
Like the other electric hunting bikes by RAD Power Bikes on this list, the RadExpand 5 is powered by the same RAD engineered 750 W geared hub motor that has proven itself in countless hunting trips through the wilderness.
With 4 levels of low-profile cadence sensing pedal assist levels combined with the 7-Speed MicroShift RD-M26 derailleur you can adjust the power level to tackle difficult terrains head on.
The RadExpand 5 hunting ebike also features a battery with 672 Wh giving you a theoretical range of 33.6 miles (if 1 mile consumes 20 Wh). That’s an impressive feast considering the more attractive price point of this ride.
Like the RadRover 6 Plus, the RadExpand 5 has a load capacity of 275 lbs which is at the lower end of the spectrum compared to many other electric hunting bikes. However, I think it’s still a very strong number especially for a foldable electric hunting bike.
Unlike some other electric bikes for hunting, the RadExpand 5 comes with a very capable rear rack already included.
The RadExpand 5 off-road electric bike also comes equipped with fat tires that’ll help you tackle rough terrain.
The motor is controlled via a half twist grip throttle and Rad Power Bikes’ custom LED display keeps you updated on your overall performance thanks to a
- charge indicator,
- pedal assist level indicator,
- error display,
- headlight/taillight indicator,
- and more.
I also like the fact that the adjustable riser bar allows you to personalize the fit of the handlebars to match your body measurements for maximum comfort.
The RadExpand 5 hunting electric bike weighs only 62.5 lbs (the battery alone weighs 7.7 lbs) for easy transportation.
RAD Power Bikes recommends the RadExpand 5 for hunters with a height of 4’10” – 5’10”.
Verdict

The Cruiser Rambo Bike

Hunters require different things from their electric bike for hunting than someone who is using their ebike only for their daily commute, for example.
What I like about the Cruiser 500 W by Rambo Bikes is that this electric hunting bike was built specifically as an entry-level hunting ebike. If you’ve used ebikes before on the road and you’re now looking to harness the power of electric bikes also for your hunting trips the Cruiser is perfect for you.
It’s a powerful mid drive bike with a 500 W motor from TruckRun. Everything else being equal, a mid drive electric hunting bike performs better on steep hills than a hub motor eBike.
With a peak power output of 750 W, the Cruiser will be of great help when you’re pedaling to climb those hills.
The lithium-ion battery has 48 V and 10.4 Ah which translates into 499.2 Wh. Assuming an average power consumption of 20 Wh per mile, this powerful battery gives you a maximum range of 20 – 25 miles on a single battery charge if you were riding this beast without pedaling at all.
And if you ride in the pedal-assist mode instead of full-throttle you can extend your range very significantly.
If you’re a deer hunter, for example, the Cruiser is perfect to get you to your viewpoint without alarming the deer. You can quickly travel the few miles from your truck to the stand in stealth mode. Without producing that typical rhythmical sound that humans produce when walking, traveling to your deer stand on the Cruiser won’t alarm the nearby deer.
And with a load capacity of 300 lbs recovering your hunt in one single trip is a feast (pun intended) with the Cruiser.
Verdict
If you want a mid drive electric hunting bike that can carry you and all you hunting gear reliably to and from your preferred hunting locations while also being an efficient hill climber the Rambo Cruiser could be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for your needs.
RadRunner 2
Image: ©RAD Power Bikes
“Jack of all Trades” that’s how RAD Power Bikes describes the RadRunner 2 electric hunting bike. This very versatile hunting ebike was originally designed as a utility cargo eBike. It’s extremely well thought out and very, very functional.
For starters, the RadRunner 2 hunting electric bike is a surprisingly good hill climber.
It has a 750 W geared hub motor and features 4 levels of pedal assist.
If you need to stop urgently or want to descend a steeper slope you can rely on the powerful TEKTRO mechanical disc brakes at both the front and the rear wheel. Both have a 180 mm rotor installed. I like these brakes because they can easily be fine-tuned, which as you might know is of utmost importance when it comes to technical brake efficiency.
RAD also made a good choice when it comes to the tires of the RadRunner 2 electric hunting bike. They’ve chosen Kendra fat tires that have some really good off-road capabilities in terms of traction and puncture resistance.
Given that the RadRunner 2 is a rigid hunting eBike, i.e. it has no suspension, the fat tires also serve as air cushions to make off-road riding that much more comfortable.
The cushioned moped-style seat also helps to further improve the ride quality over very rugged terrain.
The RadRunner 2 comes as a single-speed hunting electric bike.
A drivetrain with 52 tooth at the front ring and a 16 tooth cog in the rear provide for a comfortable and easy riding experience comparable to a middle-of-the-range type of gear setting.
Handling the RadRunner 2 electric hunting bike feels very easy with the wide aluminum handlebar and the ergonomically shaped rubber grips.
A basic but functional LED display gives you access to all necessary functions and information.
Despite its very attractive price tag, the RadRunner 2 hunting bike can carry a total weight of up to 300 lbs. That’s comparable to the maximum load capacity of some of the most premium (and most costly) electric hunting bikes on the market.
Unlike many of its higher-priced peers, the RadRunner 2 hunting electric bike even comes with an integrated rear rack that’s perfectly fitted into the sturdy frame of the eBike. Because it’s supported by the frame it can actually handle a substantial payload.
When it comes to range the RadRunner 2 also does not disappoint. With its 48 V 14 Ah battery and a total of 672 Wh you get a theoretical range of 33.6 miles.
ElectricBikeReport even achieved a range of 46.65 miles in Pedal Assist level 2. You can learn more in my detailed RadRunner 2 review.
The RadRunner 2 has a top speed of 20 mph and weighs a total of 65 lbs. which is very similar to many other good-quality electric hunting bikes.
In terms of frame size, the RadRunner 2 hunting electric bike is available in a frame size of 18” with a Stand Over Height of 16.5”.
According to RAD Power Bikes the RadRunner 2 is perfect for hunters that measure between 4’11 – 6’2 in height with an InSeam in the range of 26.75” – 37”.
If you want to test the RadRunner 2 to find out if it’s right for your needs RAD Power Bikes makes that possible with their “14-day Free Trial “ offer (at the time of writing this review).
Verdict
If you want a very functional and strong electric hunting bike that also offers a very good range the RadRunner 2 by RAD Power Bikes could be the best hunting ebike under $2000 for you.
Fission Cycles FM

I have included the Fission Cycle FM 750 in this list even though it’s now priced slightly above $2000. However, I think it’s quite an impressive bike that you might be interested in. It would have achieved a higher ranking if it had a lower price point.
The Fission Cycle FM 750 is a neat and fully equipped compact electric hunting bike. It comes with a pretty powerful 750 W rear hub motor capable of handling moderate to slightly more advanced trails.
It’s a great all-rounder ebike perfect if you intend to use it not just for hunting but also to go fishing, grocery shopping, or commuting to work.
It’s classified as a Class 2 electric bike which means it’s street-legal in many jurisdictions.
The battery has 48 V and 14 AH which equals a total of 672 Wh, enough for a range of approximately 30 miles on flat land on a single charge.
Of course, it comes with fat tires that are puncture resistant tires (which I personally like a lot).
Tektro mechanical disc brakes at the front and rear wheel stop this hunting ebike whenever you need to.
The 8-gear Shimano gearing system is controlled by a twist shifter at the handlebar. Combined with the 5-levels pedal assist you have excellent control over the raw power that this motor can deliver. This makes tackling even more challenging terrain much easier and more satisfying.
Unlike some other hunting electric bikes on this list, the Fission Cycles FM 750 has strong suspensions at the front fork making long rides over bumpy terrain much more comfortable.
Verdict
If you’re looking for an electric hunting bike with front suspension and a capable motor and gearing setup that can get the job done, the Fission Cycle FM 750 could be the best hunting ebike for you even though it’s currently not available under $2000.

Buying a hunting ebike under $2000 is a significant investment and one that most people probably don’t make lightly. Not everybody has $2000 laying around waiting to be spent.
Many hard-working people would probably prefer to spread the investment over a long period of time resulting in smaller more manageable monthly payments.
Advantages Of Financing
Luckily, the e bike industry has evolved enough that large financial institutions and payment processors such as PayPal are willing to offer financing programs for the purchase of electric hunting bikes.
Dealing with smaller monthly installments instead of one bigger lump sum payment can make the difference between affordable and unaffordable.

While your local brick and mortar e bike dealership might not be able to offer you any financing options, most online retailers do.
Pay a small deposit first and then small monthly installments. You might even find some offers with 0% interest. Amazing, right?

Frequently Asked Questions About The Best Hunting eBike Under $2000
I hope I’ve covered most of the important aspects that will help you to find the best hunting ebike under $2000 for your unique requirements.
But, there might be other questions I haven’t answered yet and I will try to do that in this section.
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions.
Can You Drag A Deer With An Electric Bike?
The short answer is “Yes, you can”.
Of course, it all depends on the individual circumstances and the type of e bike you’re using.
To drag a deer I’d definitely recommend using an electric hunting bike.
Electric hunting bikes are specifically designed and built with the hunter in mind. They are true workhorses that can make it extremely easy to recover your hunt through challenging terrain in one single trip. That’s exactly what they were invented for.
You can purchase a special trailer made for your specific hunting ebike which is perfect for recovering your hunt if you’re a big game hunter.
How Much Weight Can An eBike Pull?
Hunting electric bikes are specifically designed to help you carry a lot of gear or recover your big game hunt.
They are no strangers to heavy cargo and most of them can certainly pull 300 lbs across difficult off-road terrain.
What’s great is that even with a heavy load on your trailer a good electric hunting bike still lets you safely descend even steeper hills.
Some models even feature a “walk-assist” mode if you feel more comfortable tackling a challenging terrain on foot while the electric motor does most of the heavy lifting for you.
It’s really a win-win situation.
Why do eBikes Have Weight Limits?
All electric bikes have weight limits, i.e. a limit as to how much weight they can carry.
However, many of the best electric bikes for hunting have a load capacity of up to 300 lbs and more.
That means these hunting e bikes can easily handle a person and all the gear they carry in their pack as long as the combined weight doesn’t exceed the overall load capacity.
That’s important because the overall weight an eBike carries affects the bike’s performance, especially when it comes to braking.
Carrying too much weight can make any bike more sluggish and difficult to handle. It can also increase the length necessary for the ebike to come to a complete standstill if needed.
Finally, too much weight can also damage the ebike or some of its components over time.
What Electric Hunting Bike Accessories Are Available And Necessary?
- Front Luggage Rack
- Rear Luggage Rack
- Saddle Accessory Bag
- Additional Bike Light
- Cargo Trailer
- Home Tool Kit
- Phone Mount
- Saddle for more comfort
